It's the end of 2006. The very last day of the year today.
I'm both happy and a bit saddened to see it go. It's one more year that I am older.
One more year I've made it through another in spite of troubles, setbacks and upheavals.
In January:
(Jan. 3) Iran stating that it plans to restart work on its “peaceful nuclear energy program",
(Jan. 5) Ariel Sharon (Israeli prime minister) suffering a massive stroke.
(Jan. 20) Results of the first post Saddam Iraqi Election were Released
(Jan. 2) An Explosion Trapped Miners in West Virginia, with only one survivor though previous news reports stated more were alive.
(Jan. 19): New Horizons space craft is set to travel three billion miles over nine years to study Pluto's atmosphere and surface.
January also saw the anticipation of NFL Seahawk fans looking forward to the Super Bowl. Of course we all know now what happened. We all know that the referees were biased and the NFL had scripted the Steelers to win, and that both teams didn't play up to their normal standards.
If you doubt the game was scripted, check out the Steelers record now, without the help of refs.
Sucks, don't it?
As for February:
(Feb. 4 and beyond): The Muslim worlds angry demonstrators smash windows, set fires, and burned flags, protesting cartoons that depict Muhammad in a negative light. Sheesh it's a fuckin' cartoon. It's ok to dilly-dally with harems of women, or little boys but a negative cartoon will send them off on a tangent...and they hate us???
Perhaps, they were really just pissed at the Super Bowl results but didn't ant to admit it.
(Feb. 8): A $415 million, eight-year federal study found that eating a low-fat diet does not decrease the risk of heart disease, cancer, or stroke. That stunned many in the medical community.
(Feb. 10): The XX Olympic Winter Games open in Turin, Italy.
March:
(March 11): Former president of Yugoslavia, Slobodan Milosevic, is found dead in his cell at The Hague.
(March 6): South Dakota Bans Most Abortions Challenging Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that legalized the procedure, Gov. Michael Rounds signs measure that outlaws all abortions except when they are necessary to save a woman's life.
(March 31): Major League Baseball Investigated Steroid use by some of it's players. Well it did a half-ass job of it. Nothings changed. It was just a big smoke blowing job for the public benefit. If it wasn't why are those records not qualified with an * ?
March was also a year since his fathers passing. The I can't believe it's been a year as it's still fresh in the memory. Having lost my mom, I know how much losing a parent hurts.
With April, Came the weather warming up ever so slightly.
Iran was once again waving their Nuclear ability around to scare folks, more Mideast fighting, more Govt fuck ups including
(April 20): FDA Rejects Medical Use of Marijuana Contradicting an earlier government report that said otherwise. The Food and Drug Administration issued a statement that says “no sound scientific studies” support the benefit of using marijuana for medical purposes.
What a load of shit. The big drug companies sure have an ass load of lobbying money to keep that policy against drugs that aren't theirs in check, don't they? Can't have them not making their billions of dollars of the backs of sick people and old guys who want boners to fuck them trophy wives with brand new titties.
From April to May to June we saw gas prices on the rise.
It went up and up and up. Some places in the nation were paying $5.00 a gallon for fucking gas.
Some were paying a bit less at $3.00 a gallon. Either way that shit was waaaay to high.
The oil companies took advantage of the disasters and made even bigger killings off their profits, as if last rounds wasn't enough. It's not just business. It's not that they give a fuck, either about the little guy trying to have gas to drive to the store. If they did, there would be alternative Bio-fuel at Every fucking station across the nation. But there is not. I also wanna know where the Hollywood tree-huggers were and are? If you're so damn concerned put your money where your mouth is. Stop driving that Hummer or SUV gas guzzling overpriced p.o.s and actually Do something.
It also makes me wonder, why are so many celebrities concerned with foreign countries and helping to feed and cloth their people, when there are millions of needy in this, their own country? I think it boils down to media coverage, and perception.
It looks better if they're feeding or trying to feed other countries, and ignoring the big bad United States and those U.S. citizens that have made them stars, saw their movies or bought their records. Hell the celebrities don't think they need to think of them. No big deal to them to forget those that helped their stars rise. As long as they get their fame and kudos for charity work.
Charity begins at home, bitch.
The next celebrity I see asking for my hard earned cash to feed some foreign kid in need I'm gonna wanna smack.
In June, there was the addition of the Ford Truck to the household. The Mustang (Marty), was on it's last axles and no longer feasible. It was a bit depressing and sad to see it go. There were a lot of memories associated with that car, and not just only for me. It will always be a fond part of my memories.
The truck is nice though. It's not a teeny weenie pos on matchbox wheels, either. It's got some weight to it and the color inside and out is pretty nice too. Nothing too dramatic and not too boring, either.
July saw :
(July 27): The trial of the former Iraqi president, Saddam Hussein on charges of crimes against humanity ends after nine months.
(July 31): Cuban president hands over power to his brother Raúl while he undergoes surgery on his intestines. It is the first time in 47 years as president that Castro has relinquished control over the country.
July also saw the man turn the big 40. While turning forty didn't end the world nor turn the guy into a geriatric retard overnight, the fact that he was now 40 seemed to trigger bouts of forgetfulness and a bit of depression after realizing he'd been alive all that time, four decades and would one day very soon in his apparent thinking, be needing Viagra and Depends or something. That's a long, long ways off, if needed at all. He's still got that sharp as a knife memory and is quite capable of peeing in the bowl.
August:
The U.S Immigrant population was still on the rise- up 16% since 2000.
I have zero problems with those who want to immigrate legally. Those just sneaking into the country need to be shipped back home till they can do it right, and their countries sent a bill for the cost to do so. As they're not here legally so why should the American taxpayer foot the bill for an illegal?
Fuck that noise. And fuck all of you who think otherwise. You bleeding hearts can foot the bill and keep them in your homes, train them for jobs, school their kids etc. If you care so very fucking much and don't give a damn about being law abiding Americans.
(Aug. 24): The FDA allows the over-the-counter sale of contraceptive "Morning After" pill to women over the age of 18. That decision ends a three-year debate. So go ahead, fuck whoever buys you the last drink and takes you home. Fuck the one ya live with and feel free to swallow a pill to kill any conception that may have happened-even if ya won't swallow anything else relating sex. While It's one thing for women to get the pill after rape or incest, getting it just to be sure your fucking around didn't knock your slutty ass up is wrong and just another form of birth control. As if your abortion use for that purpose wasn't enough.
Sure, I believe women have the right to choose.
They can Choose to open their legs and get nailed. They can choose to make sure they have a condom on their man's meat sword to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. But a lot of women don't. They just whore around till they get knocked up and say don't blame me for being a slut who can get a dick in her cooch at the drop of a hat but can't somehow find the the time for appropriate birth control. Give me a break. Just get your damn tubes tied already and fuck to your hearts content. But give up on the faux surprise that a cock in your skanky cooch has somehow knocked ya up.
There was also upheaval at his work place. The Company decided to move everyone to one office. One office in Seattle. That meant either moves or commuting till everyone got moved there, or finding one's ass another job. We also lost our dear Cockatiel Mollie this month too. He was our only remaining 'Tiel, and will be sorely missed.
September:
(Sept. 9): Atlantis takes off after several postponements caused by bad weather and mechanical issues.
(Sept 5): The man grilled a nice steak dinner for my birthday-after he mowed the lawn and after the power went out heating the house up with no fans running. The second Tivo also had issues with the heat and quit working.
(Sept. 11): The United States Marked the Five-Year Anniversary of Terrorists Attack. Thousands gather at the sites of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks to mourn the loss of life.
Though what have we as Americans on a every day basis truly learned or changed to prevent another attack of that kind? I haven't seen a lot of progress. People live day to day as they always have. We just have a new color code and folks pretending to be more aware. Of course folks have issues with the color code, but come on. Most of us know how stupid people can be so why not get a system that goes back to pre-school colors so everyone can understand it.
Speaking of paying, how the fuck can people charge so damn much to rent a home in the Seattle area? I know taxes are high, (as Washington State taxes almost every thing in the universe,) that being noted, rents are way too Sky-Fucking-High. I understand a bit of profit but do ya have to make it off of just one damn rental?
After lots of discussion and looking for an affordable rental, we decided to look into buying a place of our own. (Something I will say I mentioned before but was poo-pooed at the time I brought it up.)
October:
(Oct 7): We attended a 5+ hour Home-buyers Education Seminar, to be on our way to home Ownership.
It also had us on the road with the financial and credit oriented part of Home Ownership. Yippee! Little did we know at the time how long that process would be.
The end of the man heading to work in Oak Harbor at the local office ended this month, too. No more getting there in 15 minutes or being home to watch the evening news and eat dinner. Guess this is progress.
(Oct 30 ): The commute to Seattle began. We'll see how long everyone can cope with the long ass travels. a 3+ hour drive there and back with traffic isn't fun in thought or otherwise.
Now I've shared rides to work with others before and it goes ok IF everyone sharing foots their fair share of the gas bill.
If not, it ends up being a couple people who pay it all.
It should be a pay the gas money when you get paid so everyone pays their fair share and not just a couple people. Course if the folks paying for the whole bunch don't 'say' anything to the others/deadbeats, they've no reason to bitch a lot about it.
So to all you folks commuting to work with others, pay your share up front, don't make an ass out of yourself by letting others carry your weight.
Speaking of weight I'm tired of all the obesity drama on the news and it being shoved up our asses. If people were not such pigs, and healthy food was not so damn spendy people would eat more of the foods better for them.
Though there are the few fat fucks that eat junk food at every possible chance they have on a daily basis and don't appear to care that they're the size of Jupiter or that because of their size, they have trouble cleaning themselves or end up with some other issue that makes them stink to high heaven with no regard to the others around them in life who have to smell their rotten stinking asses.
Those are the Fat folks the media should be hounding. Not the folks who can't afford to eat right and pay their bills.
November:
Shitty ass weather (Rain, Floods and Wind) and fucking long power outages part I.
I hate being cold and I hate being cold with no power and lights. It sucks and i don't fucking like it.
Then if that Weather-Wonderfuck wasn't enough Mother fucker Nature gives us snow ice and really really cold temperatures. Hooray, the roads are icy and shitty watch all the morons try to drive. It was stay off the fucking roads as much as possible. Because even if you Do have 4 wheel drive, ya don't have 4 wheel brakes, dumbass!
December:
Oh wow, surprise the Pacific Northwest was ass-raped by wind and rain again. Power Outages, CO deaths, drowning in one's own basement and electrocution. Hell what a way to head for a new year!
During The Dark Blow of '06, we lost a Lovebird Felix to the cold of a no heat or lights home. He tried but couldn't pull through, poor guy.
We also had the deaths of James Brown , Former President Gerald R. Ford, and the execution of Saddam Hussein In Iraq (Hooray!!!). James Brown could sing but all the hub-bub they aired for him was a little too much as they focused on funeral guests like Michael Jackson. (Who left the us, in my opinion to be able to diddle with little boys in another country. I could be wrong but doubt it.)
The execution of Saddam was taped so I'm sure it'll end up on You Tube or online elsewhere soon.
Gerald R. Ford is getting a decent send off. But why, oh why, he ever pardoned Richard Nixon I'll never figure out. How is giving a law-breaker a free pass a good thing for the country?
Guess it'll always be one of those things questioned.
But as this day, December 31, 2006 draws to a close, the weather is chilly, dusk is encroaching and the fireworks at the Space Needle are only hours away.
So have a drink, smoke, but no where normal like a bar-You can't do that here- and get laid if ya can, or least of all grab a tittie and treat it well. We'll have to wait and see what 2007 has in store and just how many idiots will make it into the news this year.
So have a stoned-drunk-safe sex-don't drive-drunk kinda night.
Oh Yeah, and Happy Fucking New Year.
